Our History

In 1911, a young man named Winn Brown opened his first shoe store in Shenandoah, Iowa. Now, three generations later Brown’s Shoe Fit Co is still offering service and selection to shoe buying customers in California and Colorado. Brown’s operates four shoe stores.

Our emphasis is to offer the latest in fashion and function from the finest shoemakers throughout the world. At Brown’s you’ll see all the name brands you know, and many more. All stores are located in downtown areas and offer that “hometown” customer service not experienced in large chain stores.

Each Brown’s Shoe Fit Co store is operated by a manager who is also a partner in his store. Partner/Managers are active members of their communities. This relationship further strengthens Brown’s commitment to each community for meeting or exceeding local expectations for their shoe buying experience.
